Marti Howell Paints, Paints, and Paints

Marti Howell, an artist from Bear Valley, paints in oils, pastels, and watercolors. She has lived in the area for 9 years and is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where sheworked as a teacher, counselor, and administrator in the public schools.. She taught art for 6 years.

Marti says “I never expected to paint in three different mediums.However, each one offers something that is both a plus and a minus for the painter. When I get tired of one medium, I switch to a different one and I can get excited all over again! I think this keeps my work fresh and appeals to a wider variety of people.”

Marti paints a diverse range of subjects but does more animals than anything else. “Animals appeal to most people either as a connection to a loved companion or to the wonders of nature. Plus, I enjoy the challenge of capturing their essence and personality.”

Marti has been a member of Crossroads Gallery for 3 years. “I love being a member of the art community at Crossroads. We have something for everyone, plus many talented artists!”
