Photographer Greg Loskorn
Greg Loskorn - Capturing Nature One Scene at a Time"I love to take pictures.” That’s an understatement for Greg having photographed trains and landscapes for over 20 years, spanning from White Sands New Mexico to the Sierras, from the Grand Canyon to the Tetons. “I also love being out in nature so combining photography with backpacking, hiking or offroading gives me a great deal of pleasure.
” Capturing a beautiful scene is not the end however, and creating a work of art requires more work after the photo is taken. "I work with a master framer to design and produce an overall art package that elevates my photos beyond their original form." He uses his woodworking skills to create picture frames that are unique and rustic, allowing him to be a part of the completed work to the very end. Greg can usually be found out in the desert either taking pictures or scavenging for more wood to make frames. Lately his frames include wood from old abandoned railroad sand fences or toppled telephone pole crossarms.
"Being moved by a particular scene is really is the main reason I take any picture, trying to freeze an image and capture the feeling. Life is transitory and moments are fleeting so photography is a way to preserve what I see and feel for all time."
"Nothing that is forced ever works, things must be natural and flowing. Whether or not all of the pictures presented here are “perfect” is up to the individual. But one thing is for sure, all of the photos I include here I do so for one simple reason, I am emotionally moved by them, and hopefully you will be too."
Greg has exhibited his railroad photography at the Tehachapi Depot, and is currently an exhibiting artist at Crossroads Gallery in Tehachapi. He also shoots an annual Blue Angels event.
