Sculptor Leon Leigh

Leon Leigh

Leon Leigh Creates Contemporary Art in Bold Metal Sculpture

Leon Leigh creations originate from the fire of the imagination of both fantasy and fiction. By reducing the figure to the bare minimum, his sculptures expose the skeleton of a frail body and reveal the playfulness of a vigorous life. His work delivers a conquest of both ruin and charismatic energy.

These creatures of whimsical dreamlike appearance personify the artists' existence in a world of the sublime and the surreal.

PROCESS
Infinitely impassioned with flame to metal, Leon uses no foundry in his process. He prefers to forge each of his pieces using on the naked flame. Solid steel rods of different diameters are used to create the skeletal form. He then heats a molten ball and slowly fuses this upon the naked framework. Rod after rod is then liquefied and remolded bringing each individual work to its unique completion.
